Membership FAQ

Membership questions, answered.

Joining, costs, exams, ethics, cancellation and your rights as a member.

How do I join?

Sign up free as a Community / Student Member — instant, no payment. You get the newsletter, free Journal articles, the community forum, 20% off all courses, and the right to apply for the Foundation exam.

What does membership cost?

The free tier is £0. Credentialed tiers are billed yearly: Associate (ABNNA) £25/yr, Full Member (MBNNA) £35/yr. Fellow (FBNNA) is earned by election, not bought.

How do I become an Associate or Full Member?

You qualify by examination. Take the course (the exam is included) or, if you're already a practitioner, sit the exam directly. Pass, complete the Code of Ethics training, then activate your tier with the annual fee.

What do the exams cost and when are they?

Foundation exam £20, Full Member exam £30, payable on application. Examinations run as scheduled sittings every two months — six a year. You choose your sitting once your application is approved.

Do I have to take a course?

No. There are two routes to every credential — a course (for learners) or the exam alone (for experienced practitioners). Both finish at the same examination, so the credential always means the same thing.

Is the Code of Ethics training compulsory?

Yes. Every credentialed member — ABNNA, MBNNA and FBNNA — completes the BNNA Code of Ethics training and signs the affirmation before their charter is awarded. Free-tier members agree to the Code on sign-up.

Is membership a recurring subscription?

Yes — credentialed tiers renew annually. You're reminded before each renewal and can cancel at any time.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel renewal at any time. Your membership and benefits continue to the end of the year you've paid for; we don't pro-rata refund the current year. First purchases carry a 14-day cooling-off period in line with UK distance-selling rules.

Can I keep using the post-nominals and badge after I cancel?

No. The credential is conditional on current membership. If your membership lapses you must stop using the post-nominals (ABNNA/MBNNA/FBNNA), the member/practitioner badge and the Association logo, and you're removed from the public directory. Re-joining restores them.

What do I get for displaying the badge?

Credentialed members may display the Association badge/logo and their post-nominals on their website, cards and profiles, under our brand guidelines. Because the Association owns its mark, this is something members can genuinely, verifiably use.

How does the directory work?

Associates and Full Members in good standing are listed in the public Practitioner Directory with a verified badge (Full Members carry the verified-practitioner badge; Fellows are featured). Submit your profile and we verify your standing before publishing.

What are Founding Members?

The first 25 members become permanent Founding Members — named on the Founders Roll forever, with a founding rate locked for life, a vote in early governance, complimentary first-year live sessions, a founding badge, and their exam fee waived. When 25 seats fill, founding applications close.
